Tourist flow in Russia has increased by 16% since the beginning of the year – Kommersant

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said that the tourist flow in the Russian Federation in January-September 2023 increased by 16% compared to the same period last year, reports TASS from the All-Russian selector on preparing regions for the winter tourist season.

Mr. Reshetnikov said that in the upcoming winter season 30 million tours in Russia are expected, which is 7% more than in the previous winter season. His deputy Dmitry Vakhrukov added that the flow of tourists in the Russian Federation in January-March 2024 could increase by 8% compared to the same period this year.

This year, during the peak tourist season, which lasts from May to September, Russians’ spending on domestic holidays increased by almost a third year-on-year. They spent 37% more on travel and hotels, and related expenses increased by 19%. The reason for this is the increase in prices for almost all services. This, experts do not rule out, will restrain the increase in domestic tourism next year.
