Titov spoke about the possibility of importing Coca-Cola products through parallel imports

Commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs Boris Titov commented on the decision of the Coca-Cola distributor to stop the production and sale of drinks in Russia. He noted that the company’s products can be “easily imported to the Russian Federation” using the parallel import mechanism.

“Coca-Cola products can be imported safely through parallel imports and conditionally bought through Alibaba. What problems?” – said Mr. Titov in an interview TASS within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

However, the import of technological equipment through this mechanism legalized in Russia is “another story,” the business ombudsman specified. “I think that it will be impossible to import spare parts for aircraft through parallel imports. And for cars – it is possible: there are huge warehouses of spare parts – gearboxes, oil filters, and so on, which are not taken into account in single databases. And in the Middle East there are entire hubs of many automotive companies for spare parts,” said Mr. Titov.

Coca-Cola in March announced the suspension of activities in Russia due to the start of a military operation in Ukraine, which has been ongoing since February 24. Today, June 18, the company’s distributor announced the cessation of production and sale in Russia of a number of drinks, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Powerade, Schweppes, Burn, BonAqua water, Dobry juice, Pulpy, Rich, My Family ”, Innocent and other products. Petersburg online edition Fontanka announced plans to launch the sale of drinks in Russia under the names Funky Monkey Cola and Orange.
