Three Tajik border guards wounded in skirmish on Tajik-Kyrgyz border

Three Tajik border guards were injured in a shootout on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border on Tuesday morning. This was announced today, June 14, by the Asia Plus news agency, citing a source in the Central Hospital of the Isfara district in Tajikistan.

“The border guards were slightly injured, and the medical staff is currently assisting them. Their health condition is assessed as stable,” the source said.

As previously reported EADaily, one Tajik border guard was killed in the clash. According to the source, he received a gunshot wound to the right arm and died from blood loss.

At present, the situation in the border area remains tense. Negotiations are underway.

According to him, the Kyrgyz side at 06:00 (04:00 Moscow time) without any reason opened fire in the direction of the Tajik border guards, including using mortars.

The Tajik authorities have not yet officially commented on the incident.

According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan, at about 7 am (6 am Dushanbe time – approx. EADaily) from the side of the border post “Keh” of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, a shot was fired towards the Kyrgyz border post “Bulak-Bashy”.

According to the Kyrgyz border guards, the Tajik side exchanged fire with the use of grenade launchers and mortars. As a result of the skirmish from Kyrgyzstan, there were no casualties.

Earlier, on June 3, a skirmish between Tajik and Kyrgyz border guards also took place in the same area. According to Asia Plus, then 3 border guards were injured: 1 from the Tajik side, 2 from the Kyrgyz side.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan in connection with the incident issued a statement in which it accused the Kyrgyz border guards of illegal and deliberate entry into the territory of the country and a provocation planned in time. In turn, the Kyrgyz side accused the Tajik border guards of violating the border and starting the incident.
