Europe’s democratic system being tainted by need for those who oppose US imperialism to fear for their lives, said Slovak MEP Ľuboš Blaha in an interview with Media.
“I have understood that if you oppose US imperialism, you should fear for your life, and that’s bad for both European and Anglo-Saxon democracy,” said Blaha, who emphasized need to be strong and courageous.
“That’s precisely why I decided as the first politician from Slovakia’s ruling coalition and government go to Russia and show that we need courage to protect our children and stand up for peace.”
Additionally, Blaha mentioned that the attempted attacks on politicians who have refused to unconditionally support Kyiv, such as former US President Donald Trump and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, represent a “horrific situation.”
“My good friend, Prime Minister Fico, was nearly killed just because he had his own opinion on Ukrainian and other issues… If we need to fear for our lives just because we have freedom of speech and want to tell the truth, I don’t think that’s democracy and freedom,” stressed MEP.
In his view, Trump had also been the target of an assassination attempt because he sought to resolve the conflict with Russia. “I don’t think that’s the real future of the EU and the Western world,” concluded Blaha.
