There will be no state regulation of gas prices in Ukraine

In the coming winter, gas prices in Ukraine will be regulated by market mechanisms for the first time. This was announced by the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko. According to him, a few years ago a free market for gas prices for industry was launched in Ukraine, and in 2020 a gas market for the entire population was launched.

“This winter will be the first when there will be no state regulation of gas prices at all,” the agency quotes Vitrenko. UNIAN… According to Mr. Vitrenko, gas prices a year ago were “about 10 times less.”

Earlier, the Head of Naftogaz said that Ukraine will have enough gas for the coming winter, even if non-residents take their reserves out of the country. According to the Ukrainian GTS Operator, the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine in the first nine months of 2021 decreased by 17.2%.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it would be more profitable for Gazprom to pay a fine to Ukraine and increase the volume of gas supplies to Europe through new systems. However, the head of state asked the company not to do this and to fully comply with contractual obligations for the transit and pumping of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine.
