There is no “immediate threat” to nuclear safety at ZNPP

There is no “immediate threat” to nuclear safety at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated this at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

“According to my assessment, at the moment there is no immediate threat to nuclear safety at ZNPP,” – said the head of the IAEA.

However, he added that the situation could change, and at any time. Grossi noted that recently the security situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP has deteriorated sharply due to shelling near the Zaporizhzhya NPP. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in that sector and facilitating the visit of IAEA personnel to the station as soon as possible.
