State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman supported the idea of creating a center in Novouralsk (Sverdlovsk region) dedicated to the General Commissar of State Security of the USSR Lavrenty Beria. According to the erudite, Lavrenty Pavlovich was one of the world’s best leaders of major projects, and deserves a personal center.
“Exactly Beria headed three special committees under the Council of Ministers of the USSR: on nuclear energy, on rocket science and on-board electronics. Their work in total gave what is now called the “Nuclear Missile Shield of the Motherland”. For this alone, he deserves the creation of a full-scale museum, and, above all, a scientific and technical one, ” – told NEWS.ru agency Wasserman.
The parliamentarian is sure that it was Beria who dealt with the Great Terror that reigned in the country at the end of 1938.
“And the meat grinder was stopped only by a series of managerial maneuvers and the transfer of the NKVD to the jurisdiction of Beria. So he certainly deserves a full-fledged museum, ” – the State Duma deputy summed up, adding that the proposal to create the Beria Center looks much more serious than the very existence Yeltsin Center.
Wasserman also stressed that he considers the EC a “bucket of slops” and clarified that he was not specifically talking about the personality of Boris Yeltsin, but about the activities of the center itself, which is run by insane people.
According to URA.RU, former adviser to the rector of the Ural Mining University Vadim Averyanov proposed to create a Beria Center in Novouralsk.
In turn, State Duma deputy and member of “Own Game” Anatoly Wasserman stated that the governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev have to endure the presence of the memorial in Yekaterinburg.
The need for a referendum on the fate of the Yeltsin Center was stated by the ex-mayor of Yakutsk, deputy head of the Duma faction “New People” Sardana Avksentieva.
Previously, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation spoke out with sharp criticism of the EC Gennady Zyuganov: in his opinion, the Center is a “viper” that needs to be closed.
A member of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region from United Russia holds a similar opinion. Viacheslav Wegner.
And the leader of “Fair Russia” Sergei Mironov believes that the work of the EC needs to be radically reformatted.
In turn, the deputy of the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party Yaroslav Nilov believes that the Yeltsin Center should be deprived of state funding.
