There are no grounds for rising prices for rice in the current season in Russia

The cost of rice groats in Russia will not rise. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, there are no grounds for this in the current season, writes TASS.

“There are no grounds for price growth in the current season, which is also confirmed by the data of the National Rice Union,” — the message says.

According to the agency, the quality of rice groats and the volume of the 2022 harvest fully meet the needs of Russian processing enterprises. In addition, rice production increased by 2.6% over the past year. The results of monitoring, analysis and evaluation of the volume of consumer properties of cereals are also given. Thus, out of the surveyed 867.1 thousand tons, about 96.11% of rice corresponds to the first or third class, and only 3.89% does not meet the requirements of GOST.

In addition, prices for cereals are now stable, as well as retail prices in retail chains. According to Rosstat, as of March 13, 2023, the price tag for raw materials fell by 1.9% since the beginning of the year. In addition, until the end of the first half of 2023, there is a ban on the export of rice and cereals from Russia, so the domestic market is definitely provided.
