The working group on the special operation proposed to write off loans to the parents of the dead soldiers

The working group on the military operation in Ukraine, together with the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Defense, is discussing the possibility of terminating the loan obligations of the parents of the dead or disabled participants in the operation. Currently, spouses and children of participants in a military operation are entitled to credit holidays.

“The law on credit holidays as a whole turned out to be extremely popular. But we see that there are gaps in it that do not allow to fully protect the participants of the SVO and their relatives in matters related to credit obligations. In particular, we are currently working with the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Defense on the possibility of terminating credit obligations to parents and adoptive parents of SVO participants who died during a special operation or were disabled as a result of a wound, ”said Nikolai Zhuravlev, deputy head of the working group, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev (quoted from site “United Russia”). According to him, the working group will come up with a corresponding legislative initiative in the near future.

Participants of the military operation, mobilized and volunteers received the right to credit holidays on consumer and mortgage loans from October 7, 2022. Credit holidays also apply to spouses and children of military personnel. However, due to the lack of information about the status of a soldier, banks are not always able to provide them with benefits. As of February 1, Russian banks issued credit holidays to participants in the operation and their families for 67.5 billion rubles.
