The White House is developing new sanctions against the DPRK, but declares its readiness for dialogue

The United States is developing a new sanctions package against the DPRK. Jake Sullivan, National Security Adviser to the US President

In connection with Pyongyang’s missile launches, Washington is stepping up “trilateral military and security cooperation” with Japan and South Korea, as well as “closer cooperation aimed at enforcing sanctions,” the official said.

“At the moment we are preparing a new package of sanctions,” — Sullivan added during a speech at a conference organized by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies on US-South Korean relations.

Sullivan specified at the same time that the US administration is open to a serious and sustainable dialogue with the North Korean authorities without preconditions. According to him, Washington has made it clear both in public and private conversations that the United States has no hostile intentions towards the DPRK. The main goal of the United States policy towards Pyongyang remains the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, as it has been since the first day of the administration of US President Joe Biden, Sullivan concluded.
