The volume of cargo transportation between Russia and China on bridges across the Amur is increasing

According to the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Harbin, the Russian Federation and China are actively increasing the volume of cargo transportation across bridges across the Amur River in 2023, TASS reports today, June 7.

“The volume of traffic on bridges across the Amur is growing. June marks one year since the opening of automobile traffic on the bridge in the Amur Region between Blagoveshchensk and Chinese Heihe. In the first five months of this year, about 200 thousand tons of various cargoes were transported through it,” the Consulate General said in a statement.

The diplomatic mission clarified that the range of goods transported through the opened Kani-Kurgan-Heihe border crossing is mainly represented by Chinese exports.

“Up to 2 thousand tons of cargo is sent to our country every day, from fruits and vegetables and consumer goods to electrical equipment, spare parts and self-propelled vehicles,” — added in the Consulate General.

According to the diplomatic mission, at the same time, the volume of deliveries of Russian goods to the PRC, transported through the Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang railway border crossing, is growing.

“According to data recently published by Russian Railways, since the commissioning of this first railway bridge connection between Russia and China, 1 million tons of coal and iron ore have already been shipped through it,” the consulate general says.
