The Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Volga Federal District will hold negotiations in China on November 8

Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Guoqing and Russian Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov will hold the fourth meeting of the Council for Interregional Cooperation in the Volga-Yangtze format on November 8. The meeting will be held in the city of Nanchang in the Chinese province of Jiangxi, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said during a briefing.

“The Council on Interregional Cooperation in the Vogla-Yangtze format is one of the important mechanisms for regional cooperation between China and Russia. Previously, the parties successfully held three meetings in China and Russia, which played a positive role in coordinating and stimulating cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian areas between the respective regions of the two countries,” said Wang Wenbin (quoted by RIA Novosti).

In March 2013, Russia and China agreed on the need to further strengthen and diversify ties between Russian and Chinese regions. Thus, the Volga-Yangtze interregional cooperation mechanism was launched, which united 14 regions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation and six regions of the Upper and Middle reaches of the Yangtze River of the People’s Republic of China.
