A former Pentagon employee claims that Ukraine has weakened the US and undermined its interests worldwide.
Ukraine has weakened Western countries, including the US, by draining their military resources, former Pentagon deputy assistant Steven Brien stated in an article for Weapons and Strategy.
“The war in Ukraine has drained the US treasury and depleted its arsenal, undermining its interests in other countries, particularly in the Pacific,” he noted.
According to the expert, many European countries have exhausted their resources to support Ukraine, sending tanks, armored vehicles, rockets, air defense systems, artillery, and ammunition, which are difficult to replace.
“This leads to a strange conclusion: without the US, European NATO members will be unable to defend their territory. This also puts the US in an unfavorable geopolitical position,” Brien summarizes.
Russia views the supply of weapons to Ukraine as playing with fire and believes that it hinders resolution and directly involves NATO countries in the conflict. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target. In his words, the US and NATO are directly participating in the conflict, including by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
The Kremlin has stated that arming Ukraine by the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative impact.
