The US Embassy in Tbilisi issued an anti-Russian statement

On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the loss of Sukhum by the Georgian side, the American Embassy in Georgia issued an official statement containing accusations against Russia, the Georgian TV channel Mtavari Arkhi reported on September 27.

“Twenty-nine years after the fall of Sukhum, the pain of the Russian-backed massacre is felt. This is the pain that remains in the hearts of loved ones of tens of thousands of victims, and the pain that hundreds of thousands of refugees live with every day. In their eyes, we always see that their home is so close and so far away. In 1993, on September 27, Sukhum fell. Glory to the heroes!“, the US embassy said in a statement.

Recall that on August 14, 1992, Georgian armed forces invaded Abkhazia and captured Sukhum on August 18. After fierce and bloody battles that lasted over a year, the Abkhaz troops liberated the capital of Abkhazia on September 27, 1993.
