The US authorities in the draft budget for fiscal year 2024 do not plan to use the frozen assets of Russia as a source of financing for economic assistance to Ukraine, said the US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources John Bass March 9 at a press conference.

He claims that the replenishment of articles comes from the budget of the United States. Bass specified that the topic of blocked Russian assets was dealt with separately.

The Deputy Secretary believes that more detailed information on this issue should be clarified with more knowledgeable American officials.

As reported IA REGNUMMarch 6 Acting Permanent Representative of Russia to the EU Kirill Logvinov said that the West, sooner or later, will have to return Russia’s frozen assets. The diplomat suggested that Western countries would also need to pay interest to Moscow on the amounts withheld.
