Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that the United States has increased funding for ammunition production by one and a half times due to the high rate of consumption of American shells in Ukraine. The official’s statement was published on the Pentagon website.
“The high rate of consumption of artillery shells in Ukraine convincingly illustrated the need to invest even more in their production. Thus, compared to the defense budget of just five years ago, we are investing almost 50% more in the production of ammunition,”
Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov agreed with Austin’s opinion that Washington does not have a “magic wand” for Ukraine in the conflict with the Russian Federation. At the same time, he noted that NATO will continue to supply weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
