Damage to Nord Stream
The UN Security Council refused to accept the draft resolution of the Russian Federation. The document proposed the creation of an international commission to investigate the undermining of the Nord Streams.
Due to the position of Western countries, the resolution did not receive nine votes out of 15, RIA Novosti reports. Representatives of Russia, China and Brazil voted for the document. Other countries abstained.
If the document were adopted by the Security Council, the commission would investigate “all aspects of the act of sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, including the identification of perpetrators, sponsors, organizers and accomplices.” Countries that conduct their own investigations should have cooperated with the commission in such a case. It is specified that Germany, Denmark and Sweden are investigating the circumstances. The document notes that the organizers of the explosion should be held accountable.
Earlier it was reported that the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to experts, can be restored, but for this there must be prerequisites from the West. Explosions on both strings of Nord Stream occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Journalist Seymour Hersh blamed the United States for the attack.
