The UN Secretary General was reminded of who exactly arranged the nuclear attack on Hiroshima

First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky reminded the Secretary General of the organization to mention the perpetrator of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

Earlier Saturday, António Guterres took part in a memorial service for the victims of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Secretary General urged never to forget about the tragedy and said that nuclear weapons have no place on the planet. The politician touched upon Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, however, he did not say a word about the United States, the only state that dropped nuclear bombs on cities.

“Dear Secretary General, the world must also never forget that this crime was committed by the United States, being the only country that used the atomic bomb against civilians. Without any military need. It would be right if you mentioned this in your statements too”wrote Polyansky on his Twitter.

In August 1945, American pilots dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 140,000 people died in Hiroshima and 74,000 in Nagasaki. And the vast majority of these were civilians. On the anniversary of the tragic events – August 6 and 9 – peace ceremonies are held in these cities.
