The trial in the case of ex-governor Belozertsev was postponed due to the illness of businessman Spiegel for an indefinite period

The first court hearing in a criminal case on corruption against the former governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev, businessman Boris Shpigel and other defendants is postponed from March 2 for an indefinite period. Earlier today, on March 1, it became known about the transfer of the process from the Izmailovsky court to the building of the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. Both transfers are related to the state of health of Mr. Spiegel.

“Boris Isaakovich was hospitalized in the cardiology center for health reasons, tomorrow’s meeting will naturally be postponed,” Aleksey Shuvarin, Mr. Belozertsev’s lawyer, told RIA Novosti, noting that the date would be known later.

At one time, the case of the ex-governor was transferred to Moscow from Penza, since the prosecutor’s office considered that the defendants there could put pressure on the court and public opinion.

The TFR accuses Ivan Belozertsev of receiving a total of 24 million rubles. from the owner of the Biotek group of companies Boris Shpigel. The money, according to investigators, was transferred in 2020 for large orders received by the pharmaceutical holding.
