A nine-year-old girl, who was hit to death by a 62-year-old shuttle bus driver, ran to the pedestrian crossing with ice cream and lemonade in her hands, she began to cross the road at a green traffic light, saw an approaching vehicle, tried to leave the roadway, but did not have time. The security forces opened a criminal case for “violation of traffic rules by the driver, which negligently caused the death of a person,” URA.RU was told in the traffic police in the Sverdlovsk region.
“Police officers found that a 9-year-old girl ran to a pedestrian crossing with ice cream and lemonade, she started to cross the road at a green traffic light, but was hit by a bus driven by a 62-year-old man. The security forces opened a criminal case for “violation of traffic rules by the driver, which negligently resulted in the death of a person,” the report says.
The incident occurred on May 29 at about 17:00 at 127 Uspensky Prospekt. The bus driver said that he did not see the girl, but braked when the woman conductor screamed. She was in the back of the bus at the time of the accident. According to her, she noticed the girl when she handed over tickets to passengers.
The mother of the deceased told the security forces that her daughter went for a walk with a friend, but did not say that she was going to go to the store. “The girl knew the road well, she often walked there,” the ministry said.
The 62-year-old man has 21 years of driving experience. He has never been brought to administrative responsibility for violating traffic rules. The driver was sober at the time of the accident. “The employees of the State traffic inspectorate found out that the bus was technically sound, they also identified the deceased girl and interviewed the participants and witnesses of the accident,” the UGIBDD summarized.
