The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has extended the threshold for duty-free importation of goods for individuals from abroad into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) at the level of €1,000 and 31 kg until October 1. About it TASS said EEC representative Iya Malkina.
The duty-free threshold applies to goods for individuals imported into the territory of the EAEU by a carrier or in postal items, as well as luggage by all modes of transport, except for air, or on foot.
If the cost of goods imported by an individual is more than €1,000 or their weight exceeds 31 kg, he will need to pay a duty of 15% of the cost, but not less than €2 for each kilogram exceeding the norm, Ms. Malkina specified.
The duty-free threshold was raised from €200 to €1,000 on April 1, 2022. It was assumed that from April 1 this year, the threshold will be lowered again to €200 for goods delivered by transport companies or the post office, and to €500 for goods carried in baggage weighing no more than 25 kg. Earlier, Russia was in favor of extending the increased threshold until July 1.
