According to preliminary data, the cause of the third fire since the beginning of the year at the federal state-owned enterprise Tambov Powder Plant, which occurred on Tuesday, November 14, was a downed drone. As sources in law enforcement agencies told Kommersant, as a result of his fall at around seven o’clock in the morning, damage occurred, followed by a fire in the building of the mass mixing shop.
The fire area was 5 square meters. m. The roof of the building was also damaged. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The company’s personnel were not evacuated, since no work was carried out in the damaged workshop. After the fire was extinguished, the investigative team studied the crash site of the drone.
The Tambov Powder Plant traces its history back to 1915. According to its own data, the company, located in the city of Kotovsk, now produces the entire range of special products for artillery systems, gunpowder for small arms cartridges, as well as more than 30 types of toys, including tumblers.
The Russian Ministry of Defense yesterday reported the destruction of Ukrainian drones over four regions, including the Tambov region. The department did not disclose details.
As Kommersant reported, at the end of last week there was also a fire at the gunpowder factory, which affected a separate building with an area of more than 300 square meters. m. Based on the incident, the special department of the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case for a terrorist attack (clause “a”, clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, maximum penalty – 20 years in prison). In early June, an explosion occurred at the enterprise while dismantling equipment. Then investigators qualified the incident as a violation of safety rules during construction work (Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, up to seven years in prison).
