The team of snowboarders from the Moscow region took second place at the IV Winter Youth Sports Contest. The athletes have one gold and two silver medals, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the region reported.
The first place in the discipline of snowboard cross was taken by Arseniy Tomin. He was ahead of athletes from the Krasnoyarsk Territory and St. Petersburg. Silver medals were won by Moscow Region snowboarders Varvara Artyukhina in parallel slalom and Aleksandra Teymurova in big air.
In total, athletes from Moscow Region scored 306 points, which allowed them to take second place in the team standings. They yielded only to the capital’s snowboarders. The team of the Krasnoyarsk Territory also entered the top three.
The Moscow Region team included Arseny Tomin, Danil Papkov, Yana Gorbey, Varvara Artyukhova, Ekaterina Morozova, Alexandra Teymurova, Kirill Kalinin and Yaroslav Dalakov.
The competitions were held in Krasnoyarsk from 16 to 22 March.
Earlier, the governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, said that 50 sports facilities in the region would be put in order in the next five years.
