The State Duma will consider a bill on payments due to drone attacks

The New People faction in the State Duma is preparing a bill that will allow citizens to receive insurance payments in case of damage to their property as a result of attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. First Deputy Head of the faction and Vice Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov told reporters on Wednesday.

Currently, damage to property of citizens as a result of the fall of aircraft, including drones, is considered an insured event only if it is not related to hostilities. However, if the drone attack is recognized as a terrorist attack or hostilities, then insurance companies may refuse to pay out in accordance with Article 964 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.

“Therefore, we in the faction are preparing a bill according to which citizens will be entitled to receive insurance payments from damage to their property as a result of falling drones,” — Davankov noted.
