The increase in the capital of the richest Russians indicates the growth of the country’s economy, which will ultimately lead to an increase in income for ordinary citizens. Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov stated this in a conversation with URA.RU.

According to Bloomberg, the wealth of the richest Russians in Russia increased by $38.6 billion in 2023. The corresponding index is calculated based on the value of company shares. Thus, since the beginning of the year, the founder of Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, has earned more than nine billion dollars, increasing his fortune to 24.5 billion.

“The economy is growing and the incomes of rich people are growing. Moreover, it is growing at a fairly fast pace. For the outgoing year by 3%. There are areas where growth rates are in double digits and approaching 30%. Naturally, the incomes of those who own relevant businesses are also growing at a good pace. I would be philosophical about this. These incomes go further to economic development rather than consumption. They are spent on business development. Accordingly, our economy and our citizens benefit from this, since there is employment, Russians will receive more income and will be able to spend more on themselves,” said Anatoly Aksakov.

Earlier, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Nikolai Arefiev announced the need to introduce a tax on excess profits, which will be 30%. This will reduce the projected budget deficit for 2023 of 2.9 trillion rubles. Such taxes were introduced in the USA, Sweden – 28%, Norway – 32%, and France – 60%.
