The State Duma of Russia and the Parliament of Abkhazia will be engaged in the harmonization of legislation

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin believes that the parliaments of Russia and Abkhazia need to intensify their joint work. He stated this at a meeting with the Speaker of the People’s Assembly – the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia Lasha Ashuba in Moscow on October 4.

“I suggest that we study together the agreement between the State Duma and the Parliament of Abkhazia and sign it as soon as possible, so that within the framework of the new format we can work more effectively, solving the problems of the citizens of our countries,” Volodin said.

In turn, Ashuba expressed confidence that the agreement would be signed in the near future.

Volodin also noted the need to discuss new formats of cooperation, in particular the creation of a high-level inter-parliamentary commission.

“The task of the commission is to harmonize legislation between our countries, solving problems that concern people, so that there is a concrete return,” Volodin said.

Lasha Ashuba during the meeting said that Abkhazia supports Russia’s position on Donbass. The people of Abkhazia are well aware of the price of freedom and independence, he noted.

“Our own experience serves to truly understand what is happening today in the Donbass, how people lived on the territory of the LPR, DPR for eight years, what led to this and what the position of the Russian Federation is based on. And we support this position, Ashuba said.

According to him, the right of peoples to freedom of choice of their own destiny is a priority.

“The events that took place in Russia on September 30 – yesterday in the State Duma, today in the Federation Council – are events that are especially important for the residents of the DPR and LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, this is the key to a happy life and future for these people. Today’s struggle of Russia with neo-Nazism, the collective West is a struggle for the future of many people, this is a fair arrangement of the world configuration, where there is no unipolarity and hegemony on the part of one state,” concluded Lasha Ashuba.
