Young families who cannot afford a mortgage should be provided with family dormitories at universities or provide them with preferential rent, as well as allocate specialized payments for this purpose. Tatyana Butskaya, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, shared this opinion in an interview with URA.RU.
“Family dormitories should be in every university. To allocate a separate room for the family and so that you can live there with a child. Unfortunately, this is not the case everywhere. As soon as a family is created, a child is born, then the place where to live is allocated as a matter of priority. It can be specialized rent, payments, since no one will give a mortgage to these people,” Tatyana Butskaya said.
She stressed that, first of all, to increase the birth rate, it is necessary to help young couples under 25 years old. “Unfortunately, not every family can enter into a mortgage. Even taking into account the program to support young families in solving the housing problem, when they allocate subsidies for an apartment, they should already have a down payment. If it is not there, then you will not see any apartment. I’m not talking about the fact that when they turn 35, they drop out of this queue. If these are students, then no one will give them a mortgage from a scholarship. And these are the very families that we now need in terms of the best age for having children – who are under 25 years old. We need to take a closer look, especially at student families in which children are born, ”the deputy explained.
