The State Duma Committee on Defense recommended rejecting the bill on granting a deferment from partial mobilization to candidates and doctors of sciences. This was announced in his Telegram channel by the author of the bill, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Mikhail Matveev.

The conclusion of the committee, signed by its chairman Andrey Kartapolov, states that the fact that a citizen has a scientific degree is not identical to his direct participation in scientific research. In addition, professionals with a Ph.D. or Ph.D. degree employed in critical sectors of the economy may receive draft reservations. “Thus, the issue addressed by the draft law may well be resolved within the framework of the already existing legal regulation,” Kartapolov noted.

Earlier, the head of the committee announced the consideration in June of a bill on a phased increase in the draft age. According to the document, it is proposed to increase the draft age from 18-27 to 21-30 years.
