The State Department approved Zelensky’s words about the untimely elections in Ukraine

The US State Department approved the words of President Vladimir Zelensky regarding the untimely elections in Ukraine, since this statement does not contradict the basic law of the country. This was stated by Deputy Head of the State Department Press Service Vedant Patel.

“This decision (not to raise the topic of elections in the country – approx. URA.RU) corresponds to the constitution of Ukraine. So we will give the Ukrainians the opportunity to add something else in this regard,” stated Patel at a briefing for journalists, commenting on Zelensky’s words that “now is not the time for elections.”

Zelensky previously stated that holding elections in Ukraine during a conflict, when the army “lives with pain and losses,” is irresponsible and frivolous. According to him, the topic of elections should not be thrown into society when there are “many challenges.”
