“…Its loss would be a crushing blow to Ukraine. As a major logistics hub at the intersection of rail and road networks, supplying other cities and towns along the Donetsk frontline, it is strategically crucial for both sides,” the publication states.
The article notes that if Russian forces capture the city, it is highly likely that the entire region will follow.

Krasnoarmeysk is a district center in the northwest of the Donetsk People’s Republic. As of 2022, the city’s population exceeded 61,000 people.
The city is home to a major railway junction, with rail and road routes connecting Donetsk to Dnepropetrovsk Oblast in Ukraine. Additionally, Krasnoarmeysk facilitates rail communication with cities under Kyiv‘s control in northern Donetsk Oblast, including Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
