Arrested in Italy, the son of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss Artem, escaped from house arrest, from where he was going to be extradited to the United States. This was announced today, March 23, by the local edition of La Stampa.
According to press reports, the businessman was able to break the electronic location control bracelet and left the apartment. Now they are trying to find him.
Alexander Uss was detained in October last year at the Milan airport at the request of the US authorities when he was about to fly to Turkey. In the United States, he is accused of violating US sanctions against Russia and Venezuela, illegal transactions and money laundering.
The article notes that Uss escaped from house arrest a day after the Court of Appeal in Milan approved his extradition to the States.
According to the entrepreneur’s lawyer, in the United States, Uss faces up to 75 years in prison on a combination of charges.
