The volume of investments of non-residents in sovereign Eurobonds of the Russian Federation as of January 1, 2023 decreased to $16.307 billion, the share of non-residents in sovereign Eurobonds decreased to 45%, follows from statistics external sector on the website of the Central Bank. The volume of investments by non-residents as of January 1, 2022 amounted to $19.959 billion, their share is 51.1%. Thus, the total volume of Russian Eurobonds owned by non-residents at par for the entire 2022 decreased by $3.652 billion, or 18.3%. This reduction was the highest since 2014, Reuters notes.
The share of non-residents in Russian Eurobonds in the second quarter decreased to 49.6%, which was the lowest value since the beginning of 2019, when the figure was at the level of 45.6%.
Trading in sovereign Eurobonds on the Moscow Exchange resumed from mid-July, since mid-August non-residents from friendly countries were allowed to trade.
