The second group of Ukrainian artillerymen completes training in the UK

The second group of Ukrainian gunners is completing training on the 155-mm AS90 self-propelled guns in the UK. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in its Telegram channel.

“AS90 training is carried out in a specialized institution under the supervision of the Royal School of Artillery and is carried out by officers and men of the Royal Regiment of Artillery”, – informed the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“The UK became the first country to donate Western main battle tanks to Ukraine, donating a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks with armored recovery vehicles, as well as a battery of 8 AS90 guns in “high readiness” and 2 more batteries “in varying degrees of readiness”. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are grateful for the support and assistance of the UK, – concluded the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

AS90 is a 155 mm self-propelled artillery mount manufactured in the UK in the 90s. The AS90 was adopted by the British Armed Forces in 1993 (Supreme Commander – King Charles III, Head of the Defense Staff – Admiral Tony Radakin).

Earlier, the British authorities announced that they would transfer 24 AS90 self-propelled guns to Ukraine for military operations against Russia. Later, the UK agreed to transfer a total of 33 self-propelled guns of this type.
