The event, which precedes the big Russia-Africa summit, will be held in Moscow on March 19-20, 2023 at the House of Unions. This was stated on February 10 by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Babakov at a meeting with ambassadors of African states.

On February 10, the State Duma hosted a meeting of the ambassadors of more than 20 African states with the leadership of the organizing committee of the Second Russia-Africa International Parliamentary Conference, which will be held on March 19-20 in Moscow.

Alexander Babakov, who is the head of the organizing committee of the conference leading up to the big Russia-Africa summit, said that the Russian side will cover all travel and accommodation costs for the participants. “At the same time, we do not limit the composition of each delegation from Africa to a certain number of participants,” Babakov explained.

The first parliamentary conference in 2019 brought together 300 delegates from 28 African states, with 26 delegations led by the presidents of national parliaments.

Babakov also informed that, in addition to parliamentarians, Russian and foreign experts dealing with African issues, representatives of business and academia will take part in the conference events. It is planned to hold four round tables – on parliamentary support of cooperation in the field of science and education, on the response of legislators to modern economic challenges, on security issues and on countering Western neo-colonialism.
