The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation will strengthen control in the border zone of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Restrictions on staying in the ten-kilometer coastal zone will affect both foreign citizens and residents of Russia, journalists report.

“The Russian FSB is strengthening the border regime in Yamal. In the border zone, citizens must have a pass, identification documents and documents confirming the right to stay in the border zone, and foreign citizens must have permission to enter the border zone,” according to the Vesti. Restrictions are also being introduced for owners of small vessels traveling in the border zone.
