The Russian Foreign Ministry threatened the West for trying to recoup the inhabitants of Kaliningrad

The West is trying to take revenge on the inhabitants of the Kaliningrad region because of its failed sanctions policy against Russia. You will have to answer for these actions, said Nikolai Kobrinets, director of the department for pan-European cooperation at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Seeing the consequences of sanctions against Russia, the West is trying to win back on ordinary citizens. He especially tries in relation to the inhabitants of the Kaliningrad region. Vilnius continues to block the supply of goods to this region. However, sooner or later they will have to answer for such actions, ”Kobrinets said in an interview with TASS. At the same time, he noted that Russia will be able to cope with these difficulties and “are already coping.”

In June 2022, Lithuania notified the Kaliningrad region of the termination of the transit of sanctioned goods through the territory of the republic. The European Commission did not allow Lithuania to take measures to transport goods to Kaliningrad and replied that all the information is in EU regulations. Later, Belgium provided a document stating that it is impossible to restrict the movement of goods between the subjects of the Russian Federation.
