The armed forces of Belarus are a serious deterrent for the Ukrainian regime. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin.
“The Belarusian leadership was sympathetic to the goals and objectives of the special military operation, consistently and fully fulfills allied obligations towards our country. At the initial stage of the special operation, when it was still possible to avoid additional casualties, our Belarusian friends made a lot of efforts to ensure conditions for holding negotiations with representatives of the Kiev authorities on Belarusian territory,” – he said.
According to him, “the subsequent wave of unprecedented sanctions pressure on Russia and Belarus has further rallied our countries, forced us to take joint steps to strengthen the economic sovereignty of the Union State, protect the interests of our citizens and economic operators.”
“It is worth saying that we adequately coped with the set goal, did not allow the collapse of the economy and, accordingly, the fall in the standard of living of our citizens. Over the past year, we have created significant groundwork in the field of import substitution, Russian and Belarusian products have occupied the vacated niches of foreign competitors, forced under pressure from Western politicians to leave the markets of Russia and Belarus,” – said the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, he stressed that “the Armed Forces of Belarus are not directly involved in the special operation, but their combat potential, backed up by the contingents of the joint Russian-Belarusian group of troops on the territory of the republic, is a serious deterrent for the Ukrainian regime.”
“In the context of a difficult military-political situation, our military, within the framework of the aforementioned joint grouping of forces, regularly conduct combat coordination activities, joint exercises and maneuvers. All this in order to, if necessary, repel potential aggression from unfriendly neighbors, ” Galuzin said.
Recall that Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Officially, Belarus does not participate in it, considering it its duty to cover the back of the Russian army. In addition, Minsk continues to advocate for a peaceful settlement of the conflict and calls on Kyiv to sit down at the negotiating table.
