Russian Foreign Ministry: the reaction of countries to Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus is puzzling

The inadequate reaction of some Western countries to decisions regarding the development of cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the military nuclear sphere cannot but cause bewilderment. So commented the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova the expression of a number of Western politicians of concern about Russian-Belarusian cooperation on nuclear weapons.

“Indisputable facts show that it was the NATO countries that introduced the concept of so-called “joint nuclear missions” and continue to follow it for many decades. At the center of this concept is the US-owned nuclear weapons deployed in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey.”– the opinion of Zakharova is given on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the official representative of the department, in the context of a total hybrid war and the declared intention of the United States and NATO to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, to continue to count on the complete absence of any military-technical countermeasures from Moscow in the nuclear sphere “it was naive”.

Maria Zakharova believes that the obvious fact of Washington’s doctrinal lowering of the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons in recent years with a shift in focus to “limited scenarios” of their use is also public knowledge.

“We have reserved and still reserve the right to take the necessary additional steps to ensure the security of Russia and its allies”Zakharova assured.

As reported IA REGNUMthe meeting of the UN Security Council on nuclear weapons in Belarus will be held on March 28 or 29.
