The Russian Foreign Ministry called the recognition of the Russian Federation as a sponsor of terrorism by the Latvian authorities Russophobia

The Russian Foreign Ministry considers Latvia’s calls to stop issuing tourist visas to Russians, as well as the recognition of the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism by the Latvian Seimas as “another manifestation of Russophobia.” According to Russian diplomats, the decision of the Latvian authorities violates paragraph 1 of Article 2 of the UN Charter (the organization is based on the principle of sovereign equality of all its members).

“Such an arrogant and self-confident allocation of objectionable countries into a certain special category lies in line with the course long pursued by the collective West to replace the universal norms and principles of international law, the so-called. order based on rules, where Riga is assigned the role of a pawn in the hands of its overseas masters, ”says a press release on site departments.

The text notes that Latvia, according to Russian diplomats, glorifies Nazism and “condones Nazi accomplices.” Also, according to representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Latvia has “overseas masters”, in whose hands Riga is allegedly “assigned the role of a pawn.”

After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry regularly accuse countries of Russophobia and cooperation with the “Nazis” that support anti-Russian sanctions and criticize the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine. In July, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that there was nothing to talk about with Western countries, since they wanted Ukraine to win over Russia on the battlefield. He also said that the diplomats of the G20 countries cannot constructively answer “impartial questions”, as they have only “rabid Russophobia”.

About the struggle of the Russian authorities with Russophobia – in the material “Kommersant” “Our answer to Russophobes.”
