The route of the pioneers will be repeated in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

In the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, reconstruction will be carried out along the route of the pioneers of New Urengoy. The participants of the very first expedition will walk this path again, the city mayor’s office reported.

“On December 10, a historical reconstruction will take place – the arrival of the first landing of pioneers. <...> It is noteworthy that the same Komsomol volunteers, and today veterans of the North – Ivan Uzhegov, Vladimir Vereshchagin, Alexey Shestakov, Pyotr Danilchenko, will take part in the historical reconstruction,” the authorities wrote on their social networks.

In 1973, a detachment of Nadym men began to build a winter road from Pangod to the village of Yagelnoye, which two years later was renamed Novy Urengoy. The organizers of the reconstruction decided to repeat their path. On December 10, at 10:00 am, residents of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will leave the village of Pangody, and at 15:00 they will be solemnly greeted in the city square of New Urengoy.

The Department of Culture has already announced plans for events for 2024. A major event will be the International Competition “Yamal Symphony”.
