The vicar of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl Pavel denied reports that he tried to take church property out of Ukraine.
“At first they let us all through, then they asked for our passport back, I could not understand the reasons. We were kept for six hours at customs control. We were carrying three icons bought in an icon shop that have no historical or cultural value.“, – said Metropolitan Pavel in a published in YouTube channel his press service video.
He also noted that he asked the people who were conducting the inspection to take photographs of the icons he was transporting. As a result, neither the representatives of the SBU nor the Moldovan side had any claims.
