The prosecutor’s office asked for three years and two months in prison for the artist Yulia Tsvetkova


During the debate in the Central Court of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the state prosecution requested three years and two months in a penal colony for the artist Yulia Tsvetkova (recognized as a foreign media agent in the Russian Federation) in the case of distributing pornography. This was announced by the mother of the artist Anna Khodyreva on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).

“The prosecutor’s office requested 3 years 2 months of a real term with serving in a general regime colony. All the details later,” wrote Ms. Khodyreva. The girl is under the article on the distribution of pornography via the Internet (paragraph “b”, part 3, 242 of the Criminal Code). The maximum penalty for this offense is six years in prison.

The case against Yulia Tsvetkova was opened in November 2019. The reason was the publication of drawings of naked female bodies in the public “Vagina Monologues” on VKontakte. The activist spent about four months under house arrest, in March 2020 she was released on bail. The girl was also fined twice for promoting non-traditional sexual relations among minors (Part 2 of Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

The prosecutor’s office returned the case materials for additional investigation several times and approved the charge only from the fourth time in February 2021, the first trial took place only in March 2021.
