Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia

Relations between European countries and China are undergoing a certain revision, as Europe is interested in the further behavior of China in the international arena, as well as the degree of China’s support for Russia in the conflict with Ukraine. This was stated by Czech President Petr Pavel during a visit to Germany, where he met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and former German President Joachim Gauck.

“One of the important topics of the negotiations in Berlin was the attitude towards China and the formation of a policy towards China. Both here (in the Czech Republic) and in Germany it is being revised. All German politicians were interested in our attitude towards the PRC. Everyone is interested in what will be the further behavior of China in the international arena, to what extent China will or will not support Russia in the conflict with Ukraine, ”RIA Novosti reports Pavel.

He also noted that the economic policy of the PRC is of great importance for the German side. Pavel is convinced that only a unified policy of the whole of Europe can and should be successful in relation to China. In his opinion, this will ensure relations on the principle of “equal to equal”. Pavel also noted the readiness of the German authorities to support Ukraine and called for maintaining this unity.

President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping flew to Moscow on March 20 to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin and Xi held talks in the Kremlin for two days. They discussed the international situation, the conflict in Ukraine and China’s peace plan. Xi expressed confidence that the situation could only be resolved through negotiations. John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said the US was concerned that China could use the Moscow summit to further step up efforts to secure a truce in Ukraine. The White House called on the Chinese leader to get Moscow to withdraw Russian wax from Ukrainian territory.
