The Pentagon said that the United States is not looking for a conflict with Russia

The US is not looking for a conflict with Russia, incidents like the fall of an American drone over the Black Sea happen. This was announced on Wednesday during a press conference by the head of the Pentagon Chiefs of Staff Mark Milli.

In turn, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin clarified that during a conversation with the head of the Russian defense department, Sergei Shoigu, he emphasized the need for great powers to “serve as a model of transparency and communications.”

“Incidents happen, the US is not looking for an armed conflict with Russia,” Milley was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

However, he refused to assess what happened as an “act of war.” “It seems to me that at the moment we should investigate this incident and move on,” Milli added, adding that he plans to talk by phone with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, on Tuesday, the United States accused Moscow of shooting down an American unmanned aerial vehicle over the Black Sea, near Crimea, by a Russian Su-27 fighter jet. Later, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation explained that they detected the approach of the UAV to the state borders of the country, in connection with which fighter jets flew into the area, which did not use standard weapons on the drone, and the device fell due to sharp maneuvering.
