The Pentagon has announced that the US Army is ready for a military conflict with China, but is trying to avoid it. This was stated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Charles Brown.
“Firstly, I would tell them that they should be proud of their armed forces and that we are ready for anything. But at the same time, we strive to be so prepared that there will be no conflict,” Charles Brown said at the Reagan National Defense Forum 2023.
Brown considers the opportunity to continue dialogue with allies and listen to opponents to be an important component of this fight. Stressing that military communication channels must be open.
The next round in the worsening relations between China and the United States was Washington’s announcement of its intention to deploy new medium-range missiles in the Indo-Pacific region in 2024. This was stated by the commander of the US Pacific Forces, Charles Flynn. The commander noted that the United States is taking this step to “deter China from invading Taiwan.”
