The number of residents with a dangerous disease has doubled in the city of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

In Novy Urengoy (YaNAO), the number of HIV-infected residents has doubled compared to last year. This was announced by Deputy Mayor Oksana Murashko in her telegram channel after discussing this problem at a meeting of the anti-drug commission.

“The situation with the spread of HIV <...> was one of the subjects of consideration at the last meeting of the anti-drug commission. The number of HIV-infected people has doubled compared to last year,” the report says.

It is noted that the bulk of the cases are residents aged 30 to 49 years. At the meeting of the commission, the problems of drug trafficking were also discussed. Compared to last year, the number of seizures of narcotic drugs in the city has tripled.

Earlier, URA.RU reported that since the beginning of 2022, 123 cases of HIV infection have been detected in the YaNAO. There are a total of 2384 HIV-positive people living in the district.
