The number of people poisoned by cider in the Ulyanovsk region has grown to 42

In the Ulyanovsk region, the number of hospitalized after cider poisoning increased from 31 to 42. This is reported by the Ministry of Health of the region.

The department noted that in total 62 cases of alcohol poisoning were detected in the region, 20 people died. “The condition of the victims is currently assessed by doctors as severe and of moderate severity,” the report says.

88 beds have been deployed in the region to provide medical assistance to the victims.

Reports of cases of poisoning with cider “Mr. Cider” in several regions of the Volga region began to arrive on June 3. Most of the dead (20) in the Ulyanovsk region, there are victims in the Samara region, Udmurtia, Chuvashia, Nizhny Novgorod region.

In the consignments of cider seized in the Ulyanovsk region, impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate were found in proportions that pose a threat to life and health. Law enforcement agencies seized 216 kegs of cider with a volume of 30 liters each in the region.

The drink was bottled in the Samara region. A businessman who sold cider has been detained, he is under an article on the provision of poor-quality services. Manufacturers of dangerous alcohol have not yet been found.
