The number of people injured in a fire at an oil storage facility in Cuba rose to 121


    At least 121 people were injured in a fire at a port oil storage facility in the province of Matanzas in Cuba. The updated information was provided by the government on Twitter. Earlier it was known about 77 victims.

    36 people remain in the hospital. Five of them are in critical condition, three are in serious condition. As transmits “Prensa Latina”among the victims – the Minister of Energy and Mining of Cuba, Nicolas Arronte Cruz.

    A fire in one of the 25,000 cubic meter oil storage tanks broke out early in the morning on 6 August. The fire spread to another tank, there was a series of explosions. The cause of the fire was said to be a lightning strike. The quenching continues to this day. More than a thousand residents were evacuated.
