The number of cases of cholera in Syria approached 600

At least 594 people have become ill with cholera in Syria since the outbreak began, Al Watan newspaper reported, citing data from the Syrian Ministry of Health.

“The largest number of cases of cholera confirmed by rapid testing was found in the north of the country in Aleppo (386), where 34 Syrians died from an intestinal infection”— specifies the publication.

It is noted that 594 cases of the disease have been confirmed throughout Syria. 39 people died from cholera in Syrian territory.

As reported IA REGNUM, at the end of September, a large outbreak of cholera was recorded in Syria. It was noted that the reason for the sharp increase in the number of cases of intestinal infection is associated with an abnormal drought, which forced the inhabitants of the republic to drink water from polluted sources.
