The number of abortions in Russia has decreased. This was stated in the Ministry of Health of Russia.
In 2022, they decreased by about 4%. However, there were still about 400,000 abortions last year, according to the report of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on the results of work in 2022.
“The number of abortions is decreasing. For the period from 2021 to 2022, the number of abortions in the Russian Federation decreased by 3.9% per year <…>; the number of medical abortions at the request of a woman decreased by 5.3%,” the document says.
Pregnant women increasingly began to use the services of legal, psychological and medical and social assistance. In 2022, the demand for assistance in this area increased by 4.9%, the report notes.
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, help in maintaining pregnancy. For this, psychological counseling of patients is carried out. The reasons for abortion are identified and motivated to continue the pregnancy.
Also, specialists inform the patient, who is in a state of reproductive choice, about the measures of social support, the document specifies.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation set a goal to raise life expectancy to 78 years by 2030.
